From Bodum

The Young Press was designed in response for the need of a modern yet functional coffee press that is both durable and stylish enough to be used in a variety of environments. The frame is made of santoprene - a hard rubber like material. The windows are made of clear polycarbonate. Together, these two layers form a protective skin around the glass beaker that helps prevent breakage and also assists in keeping the coffee hot longer. The layers will also help insure that the body of the press remains cool to the touch. These features make the Young Press ideal for home, office, boat, and even camping! 1.0 l. 34 oz capacity.
Brand: Bodum

Excellent Coffee The Bodum Young coffee press is so easy, and makes a wonderful cup (about 2 1/2 mugs total) of coffee. If you can't afford an expresso maker, this is the next best thing for a good mug of coffee. I really like the plastic sleeve around the glass also, as it protects the glass from breaking, and keeps the second cup of coffee warm longer than other Bodums. Always use a Bodum There are many reasons to get this Bodum coffee press. 1. the best priced 8 cup bodum there is. 2. Coffee presses give you 'virgin' coffee flavor. 3. the carafe is nesteled in and protected by the durable frame that is made of santoprene - a hard rubber like material. The windows are made of clear polycarbonate. If you were ever afriad you'd break your Chambord style press, as I have been many times, get the Young Press instead. Perfect! This is the best french press that I have ever owned. Great coffee and the beaker is fully protected by rubber armor. Highly recommended.

Disposable Chopsticks, pack of 40 pair #820900

Package of 40 pair of wooden disposable chopsticks. Each pair of 8 inch long chopsticks is in a paper sleeve.
Amazon Sales Rank: #27160 in Kitchen & Housewares Brand: Genroku Model: 820900 Dimensions: 5.50" h x 1.00" w x 8.00" l, .50 pounds

Great purchase! We're big sushi eaters so we use chopsticks at least once a week. These were priced perfectly and just like restaurant chopsticks. I'll be ordering more soon. Great value Used at our luncheon at school and we had a great time "trying" to eat! :) Yuck didn't like 'em I didn't like these chopsticks at all. They are made from a soft wood, and the closer I got them to my face the more I could smell the wood. The woody smell became just too much for me, I wound up throwing them away. Other than that, the wood is soft so over the course of making myself try several pairs, when I broke them apart to use them several split badly so I had one very short chopstick and one with a big sharp piece of broken wood hanging off. I give it 2 stars, since you can eat with them. Also the wood smell might not bother other folks. And as cheap as these are, you can afford to throw away a few badly split ones and start over. However, I'm going to be sticking with bamboo chopsticks from now on, I eat about everything (not tomato soup though! miso soup, yes) with chopsticks so I'm pretty particular.

Amazon Sales Rank: #317038 in Kitchen & Housewares Brand: Cuisinart Model: FP-12-PARENT Dimensions: 15.25" h x 10.50" w x 7.00" l,

Not an improvement... I've owned various models of Cuisinarts for many years and have always considered them the Cadillac of food processors. Recently I gave away my DLC-2014 model to a relative and upgraded to the FP-14DC, their newest model. I'm beginning to think I may have been too hasty. The most obvious difference between the newer and older model is the design of the workbowl. Cuisinarts have always had straight-sided bowls, but the FP-14DC's bowl is flared -- wider at the top than at the bottom. Presumably the company's engineers determined that the newer design performs better -- or at least as well -- as the older design, but that hasn't been my experience. One problem is that food seems to collect in the seam between the side and bottom of the bowl much more readily than in older models. I used it the other day to chop about two cups of walnuts. When I dumped the chopped nuts out of the bowl, I saw that two or three tablespoons of walnut powder had collected and jammed in the seam. I had to use my index finger to scrape it out. Not a big deal, but annoying nevertheless. Another, more serious problem as far as I'm concerned is the newer model's dough-making performance. I've been making bread and pizza dough in a food processor for years and it's always worked great -- add the flower, water, yeast, and salt, turn the processor on, and almost immediately the dough comes together in a ball and gets kneaded as the processor spins it around the workbowl. Well, I tried my standard pizza dough recipe, which I've made hundreds of times in older models (of the same bowl capacity), and was horrified to see that the dough failed to form a ball. Instead, the machine simply plastered the dough sround the side of the bowl while the blade spun ineffectively at the bottom. I had to stop the machine and go in with a spatula to scrape down the side of the bowl and coax the dough into a ball before it would properly "catch" on the blade when the machine was turned back on. And when I finally pulled the kneaded dough out of the bowl, there was a lot left behind in the bottom-side seam as noted above. Not good. I also noticed the dough blade has reverted to being made of plastic, as it was in Cuisinarts of many years past; the blade on the previous DLC-2014 model was stainless steel. Seems like a step down in quality. I haven't had enough experience yet with the FP-14C to write it off completely, but so far I'm not impressed. The food processor SHOW DOWN: A comparison of 14 cup stainless Cuisinart food processors When I buy a new kitchen or household item with lots of competitors I do loads of comparison/contrasting and research first if it's over a hundred bucks...Knowing it was time for a new food processor, I began comparing models. However, I found it a tad difficult to do with all the different blades, codes, etc. Therefore, once I had completed my own shopping and comparisons, I thought it might be helpful for anyone else in the same situation if I posted my own comparisons here. I'll start by saying, after all the testing I decided to order the CUISINART LIMITED EDITION Metal (NOT THE ELITE) 14 cup food processor on Amazon. I found it to be the best value for my own needs and it was cheaper here than anywhere else I looked as of the time of my review. I chose Cuisinart because it's known to be the best but what made me decide on the limited edition may not be what you would want...this way you can compare and decide. I chose a 14 cup because I love soups and big batches of dough. I only looked at stainless because I only have 2 electronics on my countertops....this will be one. And it best matches the appliances. So...that said...here we go: (these are all by Cuisinart) I compared The Custom 14 food processor DFP 14BCN. I will call this "C from now on. I compared it to the Limited Edition 14 cup MP-14N I will call this "LE" from now on I compared also the Elite Collection 14 cup FP 14DC (I will call this "E" from now on) and I compared the PowerPrep Plus 14 cup DLC-2014CHB (I will call this "PP" from now on) WARRANTY: C: 5 year motor, 3 year entire unit LE: 20 year motor warranty, 3 year entire unit E:20 year motor warranty, 3 year LIMITED warranty PP:10 year motor warranty, 3 year entire unit CONTROLS: C: Two controls: On/off and pulse. All come with spatulas to scrape them down. All have parts that are dishwasher safe. Other: C: none LE: also comes with attachable beater blades so you don't have to keep your mixer on the countertop or drag out two appliances for some mixing chores. Bowl is made so no food gets caught in grooves or corners. Cord can be wrapped underneath machine. E: also comes with attachable 11 cup and 4.5 cup bowls with pour spouts and measurement markings for small chores. These nest inside the 14 cup bowl. Some have complained that the narrow base and wide top, which makes the nestling bowls fit in, don't allow as smooth of mixing and also that food gets caught in a rim making this bowl harder to clean after mixing things that get trapped like shredded cheese and fine nuts. This is the only one that comes with an accessory storage case with a lock...nice to keep blades away from kids. Cord can be wrapped under unit on this one as well. PP:none Conclusion: What I wanted in my food processor may be different from you so I'll note a few things. For me, the Limited Edition was what I purchased because it was far higher priced everywhere else on the internet including the Cuisinart site itself so I thought it good value and its price on Amazon, it's warranty was the best and it had the most powerful motor of all of them so, since I use it often, this was a plus. Also because of its powerful motor it is best for doughs as was the solid metal dough blade. I have a huge kitchenaid mixer that I don't keep on the counter so having the beater blade attachment was great for quick mixing when I don't wish to drag it out of the pantry. Because most of my slicing is the 4mm and I never do any fine shredding, the adjustable blades weren't needed for me (and I can buy them later if I want them...all parts are interchangeable on the 14 cup Cuisinart food processors.) BUT if you are someone who wants a variety of bowl sizes and blades, then I'd say the Elite would be the best choice. It's also nice that that one comes with an accessory storage case. However, I find having to unstack the small bowls housed inside the large one and get food out that gets trapped in the seams with the Elite model were an annoyance I wished to avoid. I found the custom to be too simple with a lesser motor and poor warranty and no mode specifically for dough. And the powerprep is fine but more basic as well with a lesser warranty and motor for almost the same price as the uber food processor...(the limited edition). Might be ok for those who rarely use the machine who know they won't wear out the motor. Also, Cuisinart is really going "old school" on this model to include a VHS tape with it...rather than the DVD included in the newer models. Still it's got an induction motor which is still better than the Custom and the Elite...(but the Elite has more wattage to it's motor inspite of the fact it's not an induction motor.) Final thought is for the price, the parts, the mega motor, the commercial grade and the warranty of the Limited Edition along with its ease of cleaning and stremlined look... it just pulled out ahead of the game for me. I'm very happy with my purchase...my old food processor was working fine but had the small chute and didn't offer near what this new one does and it looks impressive on the counter even though I'm very picky about anything out on the counter in my kitchen as my kitchen is open to the living room so I have to keep it neat. The metal is attractive, the motor is SO quiet for what it is, and the chopping power is tremendous...I did a couple batches of dough already too and it makes some FINE pizza in no time because of it! Negatives: Some complain about the new food processors having safety mechanisms that won't allow the machine to start unless everything is aligned perfectly. For me this is not a negative because the newer machines with the commercial induction motors being loose would easily chop off your head. And that's a kitchen mess none of us want. They aren't your mama's old school food processors that whir at a low speed...these things do all but chop logs and they'd probably do that too. I want nothing loose when this baby starts! However, the Limited Edition starting is the same as my food processor from years and years ago...you just turn the top to the right and it locks in place and you can start it, then when you want to remove the lid, push left on the top part of the handle. I thought all food processors had always been like that...at least mine were. The only difference with this new one is the blade doesnt continue spinning when you remove the plunger...but because you can now fit your hand inside with the large opening, I get it. SOMEONE would reach down and try to hold an onion to slice it thin on the blade...you know it. So now to have the large opening, the mega processors initiated this safety factor. No big deal for me. p.s. If you buy shredded cheese, try shredding your own in the food processor...not only will you save lots of cash to help pay for the food processor, but shredded cheese is coated so it won't stick together. If you shred your own it actually tastes soooo much better and fresher, and it melts better. Same for meat--well, except the melting part! But I'm a cheese lover above all else... I like it a lot, but not in love. Let me begin by telling you this processor replaces a 30-year-old original Cuisinart DLC-8. It didn't have a wide feed tube, and had much less power, so I'm not making a comparison with a newer, comparable machine. It's kind of like comparing an economy car to a Mercedes. Also, I got it for a significant discount during a Macy's sale, which is the only reason I bought it. I don't know if I'd pay the regular price for it. Another reviewer liked the limited edition better when spending the big bucks. That said, I'm happy with it, but not as thrilled as I expected to be. First of all, be forewarned, this baby is BIG. I have a small appliance garage on my counter. My old one fit in there facing front-to-back, with the work bowl attached and the cover inverted. This one is so large I can't face it forward -- the door won't close. So it's in sideways, with the bowls attached, but the cover sits on its side next to it, because with the large feed tube you can't just turn the lid upside down. Other appliances (hand mixer, stick blender with attachments) had to find other homes. If space is a premium for you, think hard about this one. A measurement they don't give you and which might be useful: height with bowls, but without the lid is about 12.5 inches. One of the main reasons I wanted a new processor was power. I make an English muffin bread that has an extremely soft dough -- you might say more of a stiff batter. It doesn't do well in my large stand mixer - the dough crawls up the dough hook, so I tried using my old food processor. It bogged down and just stopped - I think the internal override must have tripped, because in a while it worked again. It's the only thing that ever completely overwhelmed that old workhouse, although it slowed down and groaned on many an occasion. This one handled it, but with a little bit of effort. You could hear it laboring, but it made it. I do love the 3 work bowls; they fit together beautifully. You can do something in the smallest bowl, take it out and leave the stuff in there, then do the next one, and so on. The bowls below stay clean. The chopping blade and slicer/shredders work with both of the larger bowls. However, you can only use the dough blade with the largest bowl, not the middle one. I made pizza last night and since pizza dough is a smaller amount, I think it would have worked better in the smaller bowl. In the large one it kind of got lost. I was happy with the final kneading results - soft and smooth, but I had to fiddle with it a little. There was a flour ring left in around the shaft, about an inch or so radius. Nothing too disturbing. I had no residue in the corner between the bottom and sides. The adjustable slicing blade is really great - love it! And the sealed top works as advertised. It's the first time I made anything that starts with dry flour that didn't make a dust cloud around the whole machine. Also, I like the way the top attaches, with a click rather than a twist. When you need to take the top off and on several times, it seems much easier to me. Another thing I like is the bumps they put on the bottom of both the small and large feed tubes. They grip the food in the chute better and it doesn't seem to slip sideways as easily. Perhaps Cuisinart has done this for years and I don't know it, but it's a big improvement over my old one. I also like that the smaller feed tube is a nice sized oval - in fact, about the same size as my old one. Some other models have a small circular feed tube that could hardly hold a very large carrot. There are a lot of parts to this thing, so I think I may not bother getting it out sometimes because of the hassle. For example, I made some butternut squash soup the day after I got it. Even tho it was brand new and I wanted to try it, I didn't bother dragging the whole thing out to puree the squash, I used my stick blender instead. I think it would have done a good job, but it didn't seem worth the trouble. On the other hand, that's exactly why I have a stick blender. Maybe if I made a huge amount it would be worth it. I'm sure if you keep it on the counter it would be much handier.

Great for everyday use! My wife and I have been using agave nectar in the place of sugar for over a year now and we absolutely love it. We typically use it in our coffee and tea, and it truly have a great flavor and is very sweet, which is great as it doesn't take very much to sweeten things... I would recommend this to anyone who uses sugar and would like to try an alternative to table sugar. Amazing flavor! Anyone with or WITHOUT insulin issues should use this in place of table sugar or artificial sugars! It taste like a good maple syrup, with half the calories and a very low glycemic load. I use this in my hot tea, over fresh fruit, in baking recipes, etc. It has endless possibilities. As for price, you cannot beat the price here on Amazon! I order this two pack for the price of 8 bottles at Whole Foods. Try a smaller bottle from WF and if you like it, come back here to Amazon to save BIG. Fabulous taste and price! Organic Raw Agave is usually way over priced. Since I use it almost exclusivity as a sweetener in my raw food prep, I found it price-challenging when buying it at my local markets. Then I found this offering on Amazon.com. I get it auto-shipped each month, so I don't have to worry about running out. Now I pay a fraction of the price I used to pay. I did a taste comparison and it tastes exactly the sames as the pricier ones.

for kids room only! This bench is lovely and all that...it truly is, easy to put together, quality is nice, only one thing-it's not large enough for an entry way or mudroom. This bench is best used for a kids room. Great bench, slight damage during shipping My girls and I love the bench. I wondered what kind of shape it would be in when I saw the box, which looked like it had been poorly handled. Everything was fine except a crack about 7" long across the front of one drawer. I have not contacted the company yet to see if they will replace it. If they don't, I won't be happy, but I can repair it and it won't be noticeable unless you look for it. Even with this small amount of damage, it's a keeper! Cute and perfect! Soooo happy with this product! I've purchased about 5 pieces of accent furniture from target.com and all have been terrific! Easy to put together, good looking, sturdy, exactly as presented online, and excellent prices! I'm ordering something else tonight too! This piece is a cute entry-way or kids room piece definitely. It's a great color and very sturdy too. I give it an A+!

Pyrex Storage Plus 7-Cup Round Dish, Clear with Blue Lid
From Pyrex

Pyrex storage plus 7 cup round dish with blue plastic cover.
Amazon Sales Rank: #13902 in Kitchen & Housewares Color: Clear Brand: Pyrex Model: 1075347 Released on: 2007-01-01 Dimensions: 7.88" h x 7.00" w x 15.25" l,

What Happen To Pyrex??????? Pyrex does not make the quality product they used to make. The plastic lids are VERY stiff and VERY difficult to put on the glass bowls and sometimes they even split. They used to be a softer plastic and would stretch when placed over the bowl. Unfortunately, they are probably having their products made in China now. They need to bring their factory back to the US and make the quality product they used to make. Lids not heavy duty! The glass bowls are sturdy, but the lids are not what I expected, one has already warped. The old type dish with a closable-hole in the lid don't seem to be available anymore. Those lids have lasted for me for several years with no problems. We're finally eating our leftovers! The clear glass makes it easy to see what's inside. The food also looks much more appetizing than it does in plastic - have no idea why that is. The glass is so much easier to clean than any type of plastic container. The lid truly does not hold on to odors. It couldn't be more ideal for food storage. Love it! Don't hesitate, buy it!

Sheffield 1126 Porcelain Touch-Up
From Sheffield

Will not turn yellow. Gives a hard, waterproof, glazed finish to any chipped porcelain or tile surfaces on drain boards, bathtubs, refrigerators, and stoves. Withstands temperatures up to 400 F. Restores natural and original beauty. Ready to use. 1 oz. si
Amazon Sales Rank: #4381 in Home Improvement Brand: Sheffield Dimensions: 1.00 pounds

Great seller, bad product Great communication with the seller and I will buy from them again. However, this product id not worth the money - it becomes yellow when next to heat so it's kind of useless in the kitchen. OK Stuff A large piece of porcelain broke off around the drain of the sink. With time it rusted. It took too coats to cover it, but after several days the rust broke through. Took two more coats to cover that. It looks like it was patched, but is better than the rusted spot. Repair scratched paint on your stove This product really works! Used it on the top of my white GE electric stove, right near the burner, and it did NOT turn dark from the heat (like ordinary "appliance touch-up paint" does). It takes a bit of care to get good coverage of the scratch, using the built-in brush. But the color matched my white stove quite well.

A great dishwasher I read many reviews and looked at several dishwashers before deciding on this one. I bought my washer from Home Depot for less than $600 and it was delivered and my old 10 year old washer was hauled off. Before I got this washer, I pretty much had to pre-wash all of my dishes but with the GE, I can put my dishes and pots straight in and with steam, hot start and normal wash settings, my dishes are coming out super clean. The washer is very quite and I was able to install it myself without much trouble. The stainless steel look really dressed up my kitchen as well.

Rooster Juice Glasses

Embossed with le coq, our thick, weighty, clear bistro glasses are a great way to greet the morning. Larger than typical juice glasses, they can also be used to serve a variety of beverages from wine to punch. Set of 6. Dishwasher-safe. Made in the USA.

Rooster Juice Glasses I purchased two sets of the Rooster Juice Glasses along with a set of Duralex Picardie Clear Tumblers. The shipment came quickly and soundly. The Rooster Juice Glasses are absolutely adorable, just as pictured on the website. The embossed rooster, with the glass's unusual shape and design, made it a favorite instantly with my boys (and me). It holds enough liquid, without overdoing it (the portion allowable in the glass is perfect for today's health conscious). Because they are larger than usual juice glasses, we use them for all cold liquids. The glass rim does seem a bit more delicate than it appears in the picture, but the mid to bottom portion of the glass are thicker and as the glass tapers, becomes more bottom heavy. They are sturdy enough (and I have two boys who use them on a daily basis throughout the day). I've had the glasses for almost a month and even my boys have not managed to overturn one yet, or break one. I think even if the glasses do manage to break (what doesn't eventually with boys), I'd still buy them again. They're simply too cute and they are sturdy enough for every day use. I'll be giving some for Xmas.

Gleaming, full stainless steel doors on stainless steel models, without any black vent trim, to achieve a cleaner appearance. Control knobs are also stainless in appearance on select models.

Excellent Double-Oven Range! "We bought this range over a year ago to replace an old 20 year electric range. I comparison shopped between this one and Maytag's double oven and went with this one because the smaller oven on this one has more height space. We've had it now for over a year now and absolutely love the double ovens feature. The smooth top is easy to clean up. There's a bridge burner that connects the left front and back burner for even cooking of double griddles. The right front burner can be adjusted for 6", 9" and 12" burner sizes and it also has a warmer in the back. I've used the smaller oven for pizza, cookies, biscuits, and a casserole. The rack for the smaller oven has specially designed handles to grasp easily and to safely remove your dish. We have also used the convection oven and love the fact that it comes with it's own thermometer probe and 3 oven racks. With the convection feature, you set your temperature to the regular recommended recipe setting and the oven will automatically kick it down 25 degrees. There are separate timers for the upper and lower ovens which turn them off when time's up and another timer for the stove. The touch pad for the control is very sensitive, so a light touch is all that's needed which ensures the touch pad won't wear out too fast. There a touch pad locking feature for the little ones and the oven also has slow bake, delayed oven start, and warming features. Also, the oven cleaning feature is very convenient; it works well as far as the cleaning the inner ovens, but the baked on spots on the doors itself will still need some elbow grease. Surprisingly the insulated doors work well and are cool to the touch when the ovens are on. One year later and we still love our GE profile dual oven/range!!"

Polder 893-90 Dual Kitchen 20-Hour Timer/Clock/Stopwatch
From Polder Housewares, Inc.

Timing meals is now easier with this Dual Kitchen Timer. Timers can measure up to 20 hours each. Each clock is independent from the other. The timer measures 3" x 2 5/8". Memory feature can be used for frequently used settings. 12/24 hour clock. Tim
Amazon Sales Rank: #12829 in Kitchen & Housewares Color: White Brand: Polder Model: 893-90 Dimensions: 1.50" h x 6.00" w x 8.00" l,

Very disappointing!! I read in Cook's Illustrated magazine that this timer was *the* timer to buy, but I am very disappointed in the product. I gave it two stars instead of one because the dual-timer function is great...but other than that, I don't have anything else positive to say about it. The biggest detractor is that the alarm is VERY quiet...so if you're more than a few feet away from it, you'll likely not hear it go off. You can wear it on your waistband, but who wants to do that? I'm likely to throw it out and replace it with something else. Don't buy this product! Polder 893-90 Kitchen Timer While the timer is a lot easier to use than most( west bend, chefs, for example), the alarm is too quiet. When my exhaust fan is on, I can't hear the timer. It's barely audible when the room is quiet and you sure won't hear it if you are in the next room. Poorly Constructed, Not Recommended I bought this timer based on the recommendation of America's Test Kitchen testing lab. The timer works as advertised but the audible alarm is not very robust, you cannot hear it from another room. Control of all of the various functions is somewhat confusing, certainly non-intuitive. Worse, the magnetic strip on the back of the timer is affixed to the plastic body with double-sided tape that will fail in very short order, allowing the magnet to separate from the body. My first timer fell off the front of my fridge onto a hard tile floor, shattering the case and destroying the timer. Amazon replaced that at no charge. A second timer did exactly the same thing after about a week's use, although this time I expected it and it only fell to the countertop. Instead of the dual timer, I do recommend the Polder 898 Clock, Timer and Stopwatch, available in Black or White, $15.00. It is very loud, comes with a laynard so you can hang it around your neck, and is simple to use.

Presto 04213 Electronic Digital Timer
From Presto

Product Features. Electronic timer with LCD display shows minutes and seconds. Counts down from any time up to 99 minutes and 59 seconds. End-of-time alarm signal; memory function and stopwatch function. Versatile clip, magnet, and easel-stand options; requires 1 AAA battery. Measures 1-1/2 by 5 by 7-1/2 inches.
Amazon Sales Rank: #494 in Kitchen & Housewares Brand: Presto Model: 04213 Dimensions: 7.50" h x 5.00" w x 1.50" l, 1.00 pounds
Some purist cooks claim to have an instinctive inner timer, but most people need a little help remembering when to take the roast out or punch down the bread dough for its second rise. This electronic timer fulfills that basic function. With an easy-to-read LCD display that shows minutes and seconds, the unit counts down from any time up to 99 minutes and 59 seconds. There's also a stopwatch function that's useful in many ways, and not necessarily only in the kitchen. An alarm signals when the time is up, and the memory function stores the last countdown time for reuse. The timer's versatile clip can also become an easel stand, and it has a magnet, too--it's good to go wherever it's needed. The handy gadget operates on one AAA battery, and it can be carefully wiped clean with a slightly damp rag as needed. The timer measures 1-1/2 by 5 by 7-1/2 inches.
Excellent timer This is my first digital kitchen timer. I have used a mechanical timer made by Sunbeam but it broke after only a year or so of use. Compare to the mechanical timer, I like this far more. It's made in China and the quality of the plastic and the built are better than you'd expect from other products made in China, but not to the level of Japanese electronics or ipod. For me, it's very acceptable. The dimension described in the product features, detail is wrong. It's not even the size of the package but close except the thickness. Actual dimensions are (17mm x 56mm x 67mm), and it's quite easily pocketable. It has a magnet for keeping on the refrigerator door and paper clip that also function as a stand. When you open the clip half way, it opens wide enough for a paper or a card. When you open it all the way, small metal piece drops between the body and the clip to keep it open as a stand. When flip it upside down and open the clip all the way again, metal piece retract again. The clip also covers the battery compartment when it's closed. If anything gives you an impression that this is a cheaply made gadget, the battery cover will be it. Operation is easy enough that you can skip the instruction. It has a minute button and a second button and the number only goes up, not down. Push both to clear the number. When you stop the alarm while beeping, it sets the same numbers you put in before. If you want to start new time, clear the display first then set the new time. It doesn't have on-off switch. I'm planning to use rechargeable battery, so this is not a problem for me. The alarm makes 4 short beeps about every second and goes for about 30 seconds. It's loud enough in my pocket and that's the way I use it. Since it's small enough, there's no excuse leaving it in the kitchen. This is a timer with simplest function for the cheapest price. If you need more functions, this is probably not a good choice. If you are used to mechanical timer, this will give you more than you need. Highly recommended. Does what it says This is a good little timer. But there's no on/off switch, so it stays on all the time. BUt I don't think it's a significant drain on the battery. Just beware and don't waste your time looking for the on/off. Works well, keep it with you This timer is just as described. It's easy to use, the magnet is strong and the sound is definitely loud enough. If I had to give a complaint I would say that because the timer doesn't turn off by itself the loud noise can be annoying until you make it back to the kitchen. If that's a problem, clip it to your pants and keep it with you.

KitchenArt 22101 Mini Adjust-A-Cup, Satin
From Kitchen Art

KitchenArt Mini Adjust-A-Cup measures metric or standard for liquids, dry, and semi-solid ingreadients. Up to 2-tablespoon, 6-teaspoon, 1-ounce, or 30-mL. This is a very handy kitchen tool.
Amazon Sales Rank: #463 in Kitchen & Housewares Color: Silver Brand: Fox Run Model: 22101 Dimensions: 6.75" h x 1.38" w x 4.00" l,

Great measuring cup This adjust-a-cup takes away guesswork and is easy to "pop" ingredients out when baking, cooking or ???? Perfect for sticky ingredients like peanut butter, molasses, butter or margarine. Great idea, poor execution I love these little adjust-a-cups but this one has a huge design flaw. The top(the black part above the silver plunger) is detachable, my only guess is for easy cleaning. It falls off all the time...on accident, if you pull the plunger out to increase your measurement, the plunger falls off inside the cylinder. At first I thought this was a flaw but it looks to be purposely detachable. I strongly recommend buying yourself a similar tool just not this one. adjust a cup It is great for thick liquids, and good for dry measuring. If you want to measure thin liquids, milk, water, stock, stick with liquid measuring cups

effective and adorable You just use scissors to remove some of the pebbles whereever your sink drain is. The mat is thicker than the typical mat and looks great in the sink. It has not stained from carrot pulp from my juicer and has withstood boiling water from cooking beets without warping. Pebble mat Pebble Sink Mat - Large - Graphite - (Graphite) This stinks, it stained from spaghetti sauce. I have scrubbed with cleanser and bleach and boiling water, nothing works. I would not buy this again. Just what I was looking for I seem to continually chip my glassware in the sink. I wanted something that was not a bright color and would blend well. This does it...it is very nice that you cut the holes for the sink yourself for a custom fit. I like the look and the feel of the cushion mats.

Cast Iron Waffle Maker

Texsport Cast Iron Waffle Maker # Long lasting durability # Resistant to chipping and warping # Greater heat distribution and retention # Keeps food warm longer # Easy to clean surface
Amazon Sales Rank: #37070 in Kitchen & Housewares Brand: Texsport Model: 14472

Can't beat cast iron, but castings are very crude. It makes some of the best waffles I have ever had. That said, the fit and finish of this waffle maker are not very good. I needed to remove a lot of casting flashing with a grinder to make the hinge end fit where it is supposed to. Even now it's not good. Even with the faluts, you can't beat cast iron for making waffles. The texture is very different from non-stick units. It takes a little practice and tecnique to get things just right with a manual unit like this, but the results are worth it.

Mario Batali Panini Pan Scraper, Espresso
From Mario Batali

Everyone know that the joy of cooking is the results, not the prep work, using the proper tools and gadgets of superior quality can speed the preparation process so you can enjoy the finished product faster and with less effort or strain. Mario Batali's new panini pan scrapers are designed to perfectly fit the panini grill and press to help clean the grill surface.

limited use This scraper only works with the Mario Batali panini pan - the grooves don't line up with my Cuisinart Panini pan. (However, it's probably a good scraper if you have the correct pan). Size too large. Product did not fit with my panini maker. Otherwise, product seemed very durable in construction and would be great for other brand panini makers or grills or griddles. Perfect...almost I was disappointed by the labeling used on the product by the manufacturer. I had to actually purchase and use "Goo Gone" to remover the sticky residue from the labels on the scraper. Once the gunk was gone, it was perfect - but I never expected to have to use a chemical solvent on a kitchen product.

They're OK but found out I don't use them I thought now I'd be measuring my portions but turns out I didn't use them at all. It's good to know how big a portion is, but if you know f.i. meat has to be the size of your palm, rice is a baseball etc that's enough, at least for me. Also thickness of the portion counts and that is not taken in account here! I don't get the excitement over this product ... OK - i got these, thinking Great! Something to assist with portion sizes! all they are is pictures drawn on a plastic cutting board. You're supposed to make sure your food fits within the colored lines ... However, they dont tell you how high to stack it. I found these a serious waste of money .... LOVE THEM Great product and found they are GREAT cutting boards that I now use every day. I ended up buying two more for my friends for xmas.

Solid & Slick In the first Indiana Jones film, Marian whacks a bad guy on the head with a frying pan and he goes down hard (I think he died)...meet that frying pan. Its painted like a sexy Lamborghini and is NOT light. The ceramic coating is NOT Teflon and won't flake off when you decide to boil water in it. I've fried eggs with a little butter (this isn't really non-stick), fried fish sticks, and made Chinese noodles ...all with no problems...and cleaned up the pan with water and a sponge. The only thing that stuck a little (left a "ghost print" which eventually scrubbed off) were Chinese steamed dumplings. I've got this and the 11 inch serving pan and am contemplating the 8 inch model. I live in Germany, so the price isn't so insane! Keep your eyes peeled for Silit Silargan cookware like this...I can't imagine you'll be disappointed! (My first review!)

good cooking fork this fork was exactly what I'd been looking for. I'd been to 5 stores and it seems that no one sells a hard rubber or 'soft' nylon fork. I do not like using a metal fork on my t-fal skillets. It works perfectly. Love it!!!!!!!!! I really like this fork because it's not as long as others. The tines are fine for the kind of cooking I use this fork for. Great tool for waffles I bought one of these specifically to remove waffles from my non-stick Belgian waffle maker. It's the perfect tool for that -- you can use it to pull a waffle off the grids easily without fear of scratching the non-stick coating, and then use the tines to spear the waffle to get it onto your plate. Good tool at a good price!

I love this stuff I love this stuff! For some reason, it's becoming more difficult to find in stores in my area. I use PowerDisolver for my grille, pans, great for non-stick pans, small spills in the oven that don't warrant a clean cycle. Best thing is that it works for that mysterious coating that gets on counters from Pam overspray or the coating that can build up on the sides of your fridge if it's near the stove. I like my cookware to look like new and have been able to clean even the bottom of 10-20 year old skillets using Power Disolver. Sometimes more than one application may be needed, but it really works. Everyone I 've introduced to this loves it too. Again, it's great stuff!

Makes outstanding rice I purchased my Aroma rice cooker at Target as I love rice. I originally bid on a much more expensive one on ebay but was outbid even at $120. Anyhow, I was at Target, saw this one and thought...what the heck. I followed directions to make 4 cups of brown rice. I hit the brown rice button and that was it. One hour and 45 minutes later I ate what I consider to be the best brown rice I have ever had. It didn't stick together as you get at fine restaurants, and it was fluffy. I loved it! The best feature (I think) about this machine is that when your rice is cooked, it automatically switches over to keep warm setting. Therefore, you can never overcook it. If you undercook it it's only because you didn't allow it to cook for the time the instructions tell you to. I am now so glad that I purchased this one. I paid $35 for it versus the $120 I would have paid for the Zojirushi 3 cup rice cooker. Terrific Long Grain Brown Rice maker I wanted to make long grain easily, but I also wanted very good cooked long grain. This rice steamer is the only one I've found that has a brown rice setting. It takes about 1 3/4 hours to make the brown rice, about a half hour for white. I also steam my vegetables at the same time. Easy to clean. The price is right, also. Great Rice Cooker My wife and I used this to make rice for sushi because we wanted something to cook the rice without having to watch it. We followed the directions in the manual and the rice came out much better than expected. It was fluffy and not watery at all like what can happen when cooked in a pot. We love this rice cooker and highly recommend it. It is extremely easy to use and we too bought it at target.

BUY THIS ALREADY5
I previously had a pretty but useless round trash bin with a circular lid. This trash can is awesome. It's easy to assemble, and the pedal works very nicely. I also like how the lid moves back down slowly and gracefully - it's a nice touch so you don't have to hear the can slamming all the time. I put a large Hefty bag inside, and this works well. Smells are pretty well contained, and if you can smell something, that means it's really been way too long. Foot pedal seems to be pretty durable, and feels substantial when you step on it.

I don't have children/pets so I cannot speak to the effectiveness of the lock.

Minor complaint: Can't really place is flush against the wall since the hinge sticks out. This isn't a huge problem but you notice it. You have to place the can a few inches away from the wall. I still give it five stars because I don't think this affects the functionality, or the joy it has brought into my disheveled life. Highly recommend this can. Very nice to look at and easy to keep clean.

Not Pet Proof3
The can looks good, and the self-lowering lid is a nice feature. But... If you're considering purchasing this specifically to keep pets out of the garbage, you may want to consider your pet's capacity for naughtiness before buying. Both of our dogs have broken into this trash can when locked. Our chihuahua mix (under 20 pounds) knocked it over, causing the lock to pop. Our other dog pulled the garbage bag out the corner of the lid. The lock prevented him from opening the center of the lid, but not the side, and completely shredded the bag. Maybe our dogs are more persistent than most, but this product certainly wasn't "pet proof."

Tough can with good lock!5
This is a nice trash can, but it does have just one shortcoming: it doesn't have a liner can, it is just the outside shell shown in the picture. It takes tall kitchen bags well, though the last corner is a bit tight to slip over the lip, but basically works well; I just prefer to have a removable liner to keep the can nicer and cleaner, and the metal simplehuman cans do have them.

Otherwise, I am happy with the can. The lock works well to keep out my very determined dog who likes to knock the can over and get into the trash. He destroyed our old simplehuman metal can, but this one seems to be holding up really well; when he knocks it over it is undamaged, and the lock works perfectly and keeps the trash safely locked away.

The lid mechanisms all are working well after several months of constant use, so overall I am very happy with the can. It is good value for the price especially, since it is less than half the cost of their metal cans and is holding up better against my wild dog!

EcoSafe GKL032195-1 2-1/2-Gallon Compostable EcoBio Plastic Bags, 25-Count
From EcoSafe

- For mini kitchen organics - 25 included - EcoFriendly

  • Amazon Sales Rank: #836 in Home Improvement

For use in collecting your food waste from the kitchen. The EcoBio bag can be thrown away and it will biodegrade in longer term commercial composts along with the food waste itself. EcoSafe biodegradable products are engineered to degrade and totally fragment in 90 to 120 days and 60-Percent mineralize within 12 to 24 months when disposed of in a well managed commercial compost facility and subsequent soil application.

EcoSafe bags2
The way I understand it, these bags are biodegradable in your "municipality" and take anywhere from 9 to 24 weeks. I not sure if this is made for home compost use (taking a long time to decompose). If your getting them for your "garbage pick-up" and not pressed for time, these will be great!

Pricey but couldn't find the smaller size in store.4
I bought these because I could only find the 33 gallon Husky EcoGuard Lawn & Leaf bags locally. While they are somewhat thinner than the EcoGuard, they do get the job done. For the $9.99 price at the time, I was able to purchase 25 of these 2.5 gallon bags for a little more than the price of 10 of the larger bags available locally.

Yogurt Maker with Glass Jars

• You control ingredients, thickness, fat content and sweetness.

Worth the extra money for automatic shut off5
I read a lot of reviews for the YM80 before buying and people complained about the lack of an automatic shut off. For an extra $10 this machine provides the shut off. My first batch of organic yogurt came out great. I think it is better for our health and environment to be eating yogurt out of glass jars and not adding a plastic container to the dump every time we eat yogurt. I made plain yogurt and added 2 tablespoons of dried organic milk. The yogurt was firm and nicely presented. It was somewhat tart so I added a tablespoon of honey just before eating, this added a little sweetness without taking away the yogurt flavor. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to have some control over what they are putting in their system. You can make this yogurt with skim, 1%, 2% or whole milk, organic milk or local milk, or even goat's milk. The shut off valve is convenient for people who don't want to keep track of when to unplug the yogurt machine. Although turning it on right before going to bed seems like about the right amount of time for a batch of yogurt.

Excellent Item For Healthy Living!5
We purchased this item because my husband is diabetic and shouldn't eat things with sugar in them, and he is also allergic to dairy products. We used the yogurt maker to make homemade soy yogurt (which it even says in the instructions that you can do). We used the boiling method for preperation and let it incubate for 10 hours (amount of time suggested in the instruction manual for fat free/skim milk). Also, we used the Yogourmet brand yogurt starter because it is the only one available in the local marget. The yogurt is excellent, it has a wonderful flavor! My husband who has travelled througout Europe and tried the yogurts avaiable there (before his allergy) says that this yogurt tastes like the real thing, like some of the excellent yogurt you can get in Europe. In fact, he dislikes the characteristic soy taste in the soy milk but he said that if he was handed the yogurt we made from soy in a blind taste test he probably wouldn't be able to tell that it was made with soy at all. We used WestSoy brand unsweetened soy milk (the best tasting to us that is on the market). I highly recommend this product!!!

Great machine. Easier than it sounds.5
This is just a great machine so far, but look, if you want to, you can obsess with complex formulas and temperatures and sterilization and what not, but you don't have to to make great yogurt. I have been experimenting for a while and I'm still working on it, but so far, this is what I've come up with...use the cups as a measuring device...I made one batch using a commercial, freeze dried yogurt starter...when I had eaten six of those, I used the seventh as a starter. This has just become part of my routine. I eat six and use the seventh for the next batch. So, in a big bowl I put one jar of yogurt, one jar heavy cream, five jars of milk and about two tablespoons of powdered milk. I stir it with a whisk until it's all incorporated well and then I pour it in the jars in the machine and set the timer. Now, this is where you need to experiment. I have done it without the powdered milk, it's still wonderful, just thinner and I like thick yogurt, so I'm trying it with the powdered milk and a little longer time. The first batch I did like this I cooked for about seven hours. I am trying ten right now. I want to see if I can get it the thickness of Greek yogurt. I have boiled the milk and it makes a little difference but not much. It's not worth it. Really, it can become such an easy part of your week and the yogurt is so much better and cheaper than what you buy in a store.

This solidly built, classic-looking teakettle says you're serious about your tea. The bright ceramic finish and shiny metal handle, lid, and pour spout make the kettle an eye-pleasing focal point on the stovetop. Even more of an attention-getter is the two-tone harmonica whistle--an amusing reminder to the household that the water is boiling and ready to pour. The flat base ensures that water heats quickly, and the lid with its black rubber gasket keeps the heat in. The boldly curved metal handle and other metal parts can get quite warm, so use a potholder when picking the kettle up and flipping up the whistle. The lid opening is large enough to make cleaning easy, and the ceramic finish is dishwasher-safe. --Dale Steinke

Very, very happy with my Chantal 2-1/2 qt. Tea Kettle5
I have had my Chantal Teakettle for approximately 14 years (it is blue, however, instead of red). It has performed perfectly and still looks as new as the day it was purchased and given a home. Unlike other tea kettles I have owned, it has remained not only as beautiful but as strong as when it was new. Others I have had, have deteriorated in a short amount of time. I truly think this one will last a lifetime. I highly recommend it and how easy to be able to order it here.

Crazy for Chantal!3
The Chantal 2 1/2-quart teakettle is not only aesthetically pleasing but is also energy efficient because it heats water to the boiling point in a short period of time. I bought a Chantal teakettle when it first came on the market, and I have used it on a Jenn-aire ceramic stovetop, a gas burner range, and an electric range--all with good results for heating water quickly. However, I have had to ask Chantal to replace my teakettle twice because of rust on the inside near the lid. Also the lid would become stuck in place and impossible to remove, so I would fill it with water through the pouring spout. The charming two-tone Hohner "harmonica" top of the spout has stopped playing on the one I have now. I think the reason for the problems with the Chantal teakettle have everything to do with the hardness of one's water. Yet, I love this teakettle so much that I will replace it myself if I must.

Great kettle,,looks great and is the nicest kettle I have ever owned. I really like the look and the whistle sound is cool.

Mr. Coffee TM75 3-Quart Iced Tea Maker

Brews tea bags and leaves Easy-to-pour, dishwasher-safe pitcher Adjustable tea-steeping control Water Window Removable brew basket

Leaks Every Where -- DO NOT BUY1
For the past two months, my wife and I have tried to use this Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker, product number: TM75. It is a piece of junk. We bought this as a replacement tea maker. On more than a dozen occasions, the tea spills all over the counter. I have tried time and time again to ensure the picture is seated, yet it continuously leaks all over the counter. Tonight was the last straw! I have thrown this piece of junk away. I will not buy another product from Mr. Coffee!

Leaks All Over1
This tea maker is trash. The surface tension of the tea causes it to "stick" to the poorly designed spout and leak all over the counter. Keeping the pitcher snug to the maker will not resolve this. Washing the basket every time seems to help, but you have to watch it very carefully, and only use it right next to the sink.

Makes good tea4
I bought this a few weeks ago and I use it about every other day. I've seen some other reviews where people complained about it leaking while making the tea, but I haven't had a single drop spill yet. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that you really have to be careful not to fill the pitcher up beyond the 3 quart water line, because when you pour the water in the unit, there's a drain hole in the back wall that will spill water all over if you overfill it. I really like the rectangular pitcher, it fits in my fridge a whole lot better than the big round Mr. Coffee pot I've replaced. The lid is two-sided, one has a full opening and the other side is grated to keep your ice cubes from pouring out.
